Came here thinking that it was a sit down dinner, however was disappointed as it is for take out only. Bought the full size pork ribs slab which consists of 12 pcs of ribs. They were huge and succulent. The ribs were juicy and delicious. Also ordered the coleslaw and the Mac & Cheese.
Ok if you like TX and properly smoked bbq this is not for you. Go elsewhere. This is more North Carolina and fusion. I was not personally happy because I like burnt ends, brisket with the smoke ring and woody taste and massive flavor. But I am giving it four stars because it earns four stars. (Would have been five without the corn bread and chicken problems).
The lumpia is fabulous and tastes just like home made. The brisket is juicy and tender even without proper smoking. The wings melt off the bone like they should. The pulled chicken is garbage. Don’t waste your money. The corn bread is packaged and like a little Debbie. That alone gets them one star.
Do not order corn bread, do not waste your money. Corn bread is easy to make and a bbq place should be ashamed for buying a mass produced one and selling it. That is disgraceful.
Overall it is a good place if you like North Carolina bbq. I don’t but I am obsessing on their lumpia so I’ll likely order again. But I cannot give five stars. The cornbread is a big deal. Same with the chicken. It tastes boiled.
It's the best BBQ I've ever had!
I have to admit that the appearance of the food didn't seem the best, and I was a bit disappointed with the purchase, but when I got home and opened the containers, I knew I was about to eat something exceptional.
The brisket is incredibly juicy and has an amazing smoky smell; you don't need to add any sauce. The pulled pork is a burst of flavors and has a very good texture.
I recommend pairing it with potato salad and coleslaw. Now, it's my favorite place!
I finally got to try this place. Everyone got something different. Ribs & brisket w/collard greens, ribs, smoked chicken & green beans, lastly 1/4 slab of ribs & mac/cheese. Everyone received corn bread. We order extra jerk chicken, Italian sausage & wings.
All the chicken was good, ribs were good, brisket was tender, greens were tasty. Everything was good except the rice. It was brick hard & stiff, not good. Overall, I would return but won't order the rice. Try their sauces too.
we came here earlier today because we saw it on the way to a museum.. and it was an awful decision. i ordered a passion fruit tea, and we ordered some food from the barbecue menu. the tea was amazing, the barbecue? awful.
if you are a person of color, i highly suggest finding somewhere else to get your bbq. our corn bread was pre packed and had mold on it, and it wasn’t even expired. my poor partner took a bite and tried it before we noticed, and it had an awful metallic taste.
the candied yams had the same metallic taste, and looked like cinnamon slop. all i could taste was metal and cinnamon. the mac and cheese had no seasoning, and tasted like kraft. the only decent part of our meal was the tea, the baked beans, and the pulled pork sandwich. not sure what’s going on with this place, as it’s such a cool concept, but definitely pass! attaching pictures of the moldy corn bread and the sorry excuse for candied yams.
I got the two meat combo with pork ribs and brisket. Both were very tender with good smokey Bark on both. Seem to be seasoned with just salt & pepper, but that's fine by me. I love being able to taste the flavor of the meat.
My Mac and cheese was microwaved to the point the cheese was hard on top and oil had seperated. The brisket was half fat and tasted gross. I couldn't eat it. Ribs were actually ok/good. Not nearly enough to save the meal
Was craving brisket late evening and I was in DC so I went and they definitely had some good brisket. They offer three types. Lean, fatty or juicy. I went with fatty because... well... I'm fat. I also got peach tea with mango pop boba that was on point.
